May 2024 SPIN Showcase Recap

The school year is coming to a close, but our SPIN Showcases are not!

This month’s showcase featured VALORANT and League of Legends.

Let’s reflect on the weekend as a whole as we crown winners and highlight strong performers in this showcase breakdown.

VALORANT

BRACKET RECAP

This month’s showcase saw 10 teams duke it out in a double elimination bracket.

Returning to compete in the showcase were 4x SPIN Showcase Champions, the Engineers. Throughout the day, the Engineers did not drop a single game as they punched their ticket to the grand finals.

On the other side of the bracket, the AESHS Patriots fought their way through the lower bracket after an early loss to “Gremlins” in the upper quarterfinals. The Patriots took down “burger after burger” and “Starlight” in swift matches, before meeting up with “Pookie Bears” in the lower semi-finals.

This was a much closer game with Krakka and former 2023 SPIN Coca-Cola All-Stars Bobstar putting up a good fight for “Pookie Bears”. Ultimately, AESHS Patriots took the series, 13-11.

In the Grand Finals, the Patriots established an early lead before the Engineers fought back and kept the score pretty close throughout the 2nd half of the match.

In the Grand Finals, the Patriots established an early lead before the Engineers fought back. Throughout the 2nd half of the match, both teams kept up strong performances to keep the scoreline close. But the former Champions in the Engineers could not be stopped – they closed the series out at 13-10 over the Patriots, securing their 5th SPIN Championship title.

The stage was set for the Finals rematch between Sum 2 Prove and Weakside Warriors. Sum 2 Prove kept an early lead on eliminations until Weakside Warriors’ RomanianGoat picked up a triple kill.
